Pre-School Management

Voluntary Committee

Berry Community Pre-School is governed by a voluntary Management Committee primarily consisting of preschool parents and members of the community. Management Committee meetings are held once per month and all parents are encouraged to attend – it is a great way to meet other parents and keep up-to-date with activities at the Pre-School.

The duties of the Management Committee are to: oversee the day-to-day operation of the preschool; oversee the rules and regulations set by DOCS are adhered to; review fees as required and; oversee the hiring of staff.

The committee’s role is to be responsible for meeting the organisations legal obligations ensuring its ongoing viability.

The Fundraising Committee is a sub-committee of the Management Committee and is responsible for organising fundraising and social events for the Pre-School. Funds raised are used to provide equipment, educational toys and resources for the children and maintenance to grounds and buildings.

Positions on the Management Committee are elected annually in December at the AGM and include the following positions: President; Vice President; Treasurer; Secretary/Public Officer; Fundraising Coordinator; Publicity Officer and; General Committee Members.

Our History

The Story of Berry Community Pre-School

Berry Community Pre-School was originally an outreach program of Kangaroo Valley Pre-School. Initially situated in the old Catholic school hall building (which is now part of Berry Public School), and then St Luke’s Anglican Hall.

The Pre-School moved to its present site in 1988. The current premises were purpose-built on land purchased by Shoalhaven City Council for Pre-School use.

In 1996 the original building was extended to provide for additional storage due to growth in infrastructure.
